Earlier in the month, I travelled with Ronan Sheehan, at the invitation of Mannix Flynn and Maedhbh McMahon to speak at their Marathon Irish Festival at their Dialogue Cultural Space in Vyner Street, London.
Ronan is a lawyer who specialises in copyright law, as well as a writer, and he gave a talk, drawing on the tradition of Colmcille – now cited in Irish copyright law – entitled Downloading the Book of Kells. Given that we were there for the end of the Paralympics, I gave a talk on the origins of the Tailteann Games and their relation to the Greek Olympics.
Many thanks to Mannix and Maedhbh for the invite and their fabulous hospitality.
I managed to finish a second draft of my children’s novel. All fingers are crossed.
